Zoono-tic | Learning about zoonotic diseases

Zoono-tic is a Teaching Innovation Project of the Universidad Complutense Madrid to make known zoonoses through social networks, and to improve the knowledge of the health sciences degree students in this field. This project aims to train students to real zoonotic cases and to use this platform as a self-assessment tool.

Zoono-tic is integrated by a multidisciplinary team and is developed with resources and in the facilities of VISAVET Health Surveillance Centre and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Universidad Complutense Madrid.

Zoono-tic objectives

The Project of Innovation and the Teaching Quality Improvement of the Universidad Complutense Madrid Zoono-tic has the following objectives:

  • Use social media to encourage and stimulate student participation, and provide a platform for interaction with faculty.
  • Raise awareness of zoonoses and their problems through the resolution of real cases, which complement the knowledge acquired in theoretical teaching and provide more significant, lasting, reflective and critical learning and
  • Serve as a self-assessment tool for undergraduate students and recent graduates in Veterinary Medicine and other health disciplines related to the subject.
